Routes
Where to run in Seoul.
Seoul is a good running city once you know where to point yourself. These are the routes I run most, and the shortlist a guided run usually grows from. The Han River Bus & Run is the first full route page. The others are being written.
The best running routes in Seoul
These are the routes I run most, pulled together from years of running Seoul rather than copied off some best-of list. Each one earned its place by being worth running again, whether that is the riverside out to Mangwon, the climb up Namsan, or the loop along the old City Wall.
Every route here is one I guide in person, so when you book, you are running it with me. Pick the one that sounds like your kind of morning, and I will show you the city at running pace.
Mangwon · Han River · Seonyudo
My home-ground route. Start in the city, jump into complete greenery, cross two bridges and end up on a hidden island park most Seoulites have never visited.
- 12.3 km
- Easy
- ~1:15 main loop
Seoul City Wall Trail
The big one. The full 20 km loop of the old Seoul City Wall, over four mountains and past the great gates, the Blue House, DDP and N Seoul Tower. The most popular route in Seoul, and the real challenge is running all of it in one go.
- 20.2 km
- Hard
- ~3:00 running the full loop, longer with stops and a few wrong turns
Namsan Mountain
A real Seoul hill run. A 3.5 km foot-traffic-only loop of up-and-down hills under a closed tree canopy, and the option to keep climbing to N Seoul Tower for the view.
- 7.1 km
- Moderate
- ~55 min hill loop
Yeouido Goguma Loop
A flat lap of Yeouido island, named for the goguma (sweet potato) it draws on the map. Forested river paths, the 63 Building in gold, and the best-equipped runner hub in Seoul to start from.
- 8.6 km
- Easy
- ~50 min main loop
The Puppy Run
A loop through the historic heart of Seoul that draws a puppy on the map. Gwanghwamun Square, Gyeongbokgung, the Blue House, the palace-wall lanes and the Cheonggyecheon, all in one run.
- 8.7 km
- Easy
- ~1:10 at an easy pace
The Great Shebang · Mangwon to Jamsil
The whole river. Mangwon out to Jamsil and back: 20+ km on the north bank, 20+ km on the south. A Han River marathon and a whole-day affair.

Seoul running data
Where Seoul runs.
I gathered the public routes Seoul runners save to their watches. The more runners saved a route, the darker its line. That is how the city’s real running arteries draw themselves: the Han River, the old city wall, the dulle-gil rings.

Run one with me
Better with a local alongside.
A route page tells you where to go. A guided run means someone who has run it hundreds of times is setting the pace, watching the turns, and pointing out what you would miss on your own.
